The SAE 15W-40 year-round range of viscosities preferred by engine manufacturers is given thanks to the use of selected synthetic components and mineral base oils. SAE 15W cold viscosity ensures safer cold starts at very low outside temperatures (reduced wear in cold starting conditions) by ensuring that all vehicle components are sufficiently lubricated.
